Meet the Team > Tony Paine
Admitting to having been born sometime in the late 1950's, Tony was brought up in the West Country, where he has remained apart from two years in London. After a short spell making cheese, he worked for 6 years in the Tax Office (this provided an insight into the opposition!). Four years as a mature student at Exeter University followed, while his young family kept home life busy.
Tony then trained as a Chartered Accountant with Albert Goodman of Taunton a leading independent practice. Qualification was achieved with a regional top five place in both sets of exams. A spell as a manager specialising in Small Business and Tax came to an end when Tony took up an appointment with one of the countrys top Consultancy and Accounting groups lasting five years, where he specialised in tax and quality control.
The move to Chalmers & Co came in 1994, where the emphasis is on keeping clients tax to a minimum, and supporting their financial affairs but also with their ongoing business development.
Outside interests when time allows, include dinghy sailing, squash and badminton, as well as chess in which he represents Somerset.
